The Barback role at Ace of Spades involves staying informed of current menu items and descriptions, following Special Events guidelines to ensure event success, handling side duties including stocking ice bins, liquor, beer, wine, and coolers, cleaning and maintaining bar equipment, performing opening/running/closing side duties according to company policy, managing trash and recyclable products per local codes, operating trash compactor, ensuring responsible alcohol service per local ordinance and company policies, maintaining company safety and sanitation standards, parring all ice bins and bars per venue specifications, washing and cleaning all bar glassware using proper cleaning supplies and techniques, and occasionally working Special Events scheduled throughout the venue. The role requires the ability to work late hours, a flexible schedule, interpersonal communication and teamwork skills, tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms, and Responsible Alcohol Training Certification or Equivalent. Preferred qualifications include 3 years work experience interacting with people in a positive environment, experience recognizing valid IDs, and experience in a live music environment. The working environment is fast-paced, often loud and stressful, requiring extended periods of prolonged standing and working on feet both indoors and outdoors, and the ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs using proper lifting techniques.
