Job Description

Corporate Paralegal - Capital Markets (In House)

Join our legal team as a Paralegal in the Capital Markets Group, where you will play a pivotal role supporting our capital markets division. This role requires collaboration with both internal stakeholders and external legal partners to ensure seamless legal and regulatory processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Expense Analysis & Reporting: Oversee and analyze over $150M in external legal spend, preparing detailed monthly reports for senior leadership and investment teams.
  2. External Firm Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for external law firms, managing budgetary reporting and invoicing processes through SimpleLegal.
  3. Regulatory Filings: Assist with the tracking, drafting, and submission of filings required by regulatory bodies, including SEC documentation and other securities-related materials.
  4. Contract Negotiation Support: Facilitate the review and negotiation process for Confidentiality Agreements and Engagement Letters, ensuring all terms meet our compliance and business standards.

Qualifications

  1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier undergraduate institution with a strong academic record.
  2. Professional Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience at a major law firm or in-house within an investment firm.
  3. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with a demonstrated ability to analyze and present large data sets.
  4. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and diplomatic skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse internal teams and external legal partners.
  5. Project Management: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining high attention to detail and accountability.
  6. Initiative & Judgment: A self-starter with a proactive approach to decision-making in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments, coupled with creative problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  7. Financial Acumen: Basic knowledge of financial instruments and an understanding of how they impact legal strategies.
  8. Confidentiality: Demonstrated capacity to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Experience

Prior familiarity with SimpleLegal is an asset.
