Virginia Health Services is hiring a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants for both the Peninsula and Southside areas including:
Kilmarnock
Gloucester
Williamsburg/York County
Newport News/Hampton
Virginia Beach
Norfolk/Portsmouth/Chesapeake
Suffolk/Isle of Wight County
The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant has the following responsibilities:
Assisting in screening and initial evaluations of all patients performed by the physical therapist when requested.
Executing treatment for patients assigned by the licensed or registered physical therapist for whom a treatment plan has been developed.
Appropriately delivering treatment to achieve identified objectives according to the established treatment plan.
Appropriately documenting progress toward identified objectives.
Communicating patient status and needs to the patient, the patient's family, the staff and other professionals.
Establishing and maintaining courteous and helpful interaction patterns with staff, patients and families which reflect sensitivity to individual needs and a problem-solving approach.
Actively assisting in educating staff, other health care professionals, and the general community about physical therapy and VHRA services on a consistent basis.
Attending facility patient care, utilization review, marketing administrative staff/department head, and family conference committee meetings as directed by the physical therapist.
Establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with other health care professionals and colleagues in the community.
Maintaining awareness of change in patient populations, patient conditions and programs.
Keeping the licensed or registered physical therapist informed, directly and in a timely manner, of patient progress and facility issues.
Adhering to the requirements of the patient's Bill of Rights.
Expanding and enhancing clinical techniques through interacting with therapists and other professional staff and by attending continuing education functions as approved.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school for Physical Therapy Assistants.
Must hold a valid state license.
Must show evidence of a current satisfactory physical examination and/or evidence of freedom from communicable diseases, where required by the state.
