Job Description

Company: Benchmark Masonry, Inc.

Work Location: Across Montana.

Travel Requirement: at least 80% of the time by company vehicle. Please see below for complete travel information.

Position: Laborer.

Wage: Starting Wage of $20/Hr.

Description: The Laborer is responsible for assisting Masons by performing a variety of general labor tasks including stocking materials and constructing scaffolds and other workstations as needed. This position reports directly to the Superintendent. Laborers are encouraged to keep all lines of communication open with the Superintendent.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up, teardown, and cleanup of job sites.
  • Use power tools including drills, grinders, saws, and other company owned tools.
  • Construction of scaffolding or other workstation structures.
  • Maintain and keep clean all equipment used.
  • Clean working surfaces and perform site maintenance and cleanup.
  • Participating in and collaborating with the crew during daily meetings to ensure safety, quality and productivity goals are set.
  • Shape brick, block, or stone in preparation for final setting with use of brick hammers and/or power saws.
  • Complete all tasks with pride of ownership and quality.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Must be able to follow instructions precisely, and work with others in an organized manner.
  • Required to provide own tape measure, brick hammer, and margin trowel.
  • Work in high, precarious places such as scaffolding and ladders.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel in a repetitive motion; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, including working on hands and knees for extended periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 120 pounds.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat or cold.
  • Follows all company standards based on the employee handbook, drug & alcohol policy, and safety handbooks.
  • This role is based out of Lewistown, MT office, but travel to projects will be required with this position. Either positioned at the out-of-town project for the duration, or travel on a regular basis will be required. 


Lodging for overnight projects outside of Lewistown, MT is pre-arranged and paid for by Benchmark Masonry. Because it is paid for and provided by Benchmark Masonry, it is not a perdiem benefit paid to the employee. 

Company vehicles are used for travel to all projects from the Benchmark Masonry shop in Lewistown, MT, and back. Because company vehicles are used and are fueled by Benchmark Masonry, travel is not a perdiem benefit paid to the employee. However, hourly wages for travel in company vehicles to and from projects, will be paid to the employee. Paid travel time will be given to the employee when travel is within the current Benchmark Masonry field crew working hours.

Meal reimbursements are paid to employees in which overnight stays are required for projects outside of Lewistown, MT. 


Experience and Skills Desired:

  • The applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  • No experience is necessary, however, experience in construction or equipment operation is preferred.
  • Required to have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Reliable and hardworking.
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the public always.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Confident in English and Spanish languages.
  • Clean criminal background as we work on secure state and federal facilities.
  • OSHA training.
  • Forklift Certified.
  • Hydro Mobile Scaffold Certified.
