We are recruiting for a motivated Medical Assistant - STD Clinic to join our team! Under general supervision, assists provider including all back office duties. Provides nursing support with various functions such as invasive procedures, medication administration, performing appointment and registration scheduling functions. Assists the RN with clinical clerical functions. Ensures smooth work and patient flow within the clinic. The Medical Assistant will be part of the Denver Sexual Health Clinic which is one of four clinics within the Public Health Institute at Denver Health. Our Denver Sexual Health Clinic team is strongly committed and passionate about providing sexual health and family planning services to an underserved community including LGBTQIA+ persons. Essential Functions include taking vital signs, assisting providers with procedures and medication administration, preparing patients for examinations, coordinating clerical information, checking in patients, documenting in medical records, reporting changes in patient condition, preparing exam rooms, maintaining safety and infection control, participating in performance appraisals and peer reviews, and performing phlebotomy and lab procedures after competency verification. Education required is a Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate from a clinical Medical Assistant school or an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program with an active LPN license. Work experience required is less than 1 year completion of a 160 hour externship or 6 months direct patient care experience in an outpatient setting. BLS/CPR certification is required. Knowledge and skills include medical office practice, examination and treatment procedures, use of medical equipment, safety hazards, vital signs, record keeping, communication, and proficiency in electronic health record documentation.
